What’s Your Number? (2011)

When flicking through a magazine, Ally Darling (Anna Faris) spots an article claiming that on average women have 10 sexual partners in their life. Realising that she has had 19 – a much bigger number than any of her friends – she vows that number 20 will be her last, meaning she won’t sleep with anyone until she knows they are the one. When helping to organise her sister’s wedding Ally bumps into an ex and is shocked at how much they have changed since they were dating. She then decides to track down all her ex’s in the hope that one of them is her Mr Right. Cue the gorgeous Chris Evans as Ally’s neighbour Colin who helps her out in return for Ally letting him hide in her apartment until his latest conquest (one pretty much every night) leaves his own place.

Anna Faris is brilliant as Ally, you will fall in love with her character and she plays comedy so well that this film is perfect for her. Paired with Chris the two of them bounce off each other, providing many laughs throughout  but also being able to bring a more serious side when needed. Chris is superb as the cheeky neighbour and ladies man but underneath that you can see the sweeter side to him which will make you fall in love with him. That and the fact he is naked a lot…!

The rest of the cast are also brilliant, Ally’s sister and friends make the perfect mix of girls that can be found in a lot of friendship groups, from the sensible married ones (Heather Burns aka Sandra Bullock’s best friend in both Two Weeks Notice and Miss Congeniality) to the wilder single girls (Eliza Coupe). Ally’s mum is played by the fantastic Blythe Danner as the mother who only wants to see Ally settle down with a respectable man and finds constant criticism with every decision she makes.

As Ally tracks down her ex’s we are given flashbacks into their relationships, providing many laughs as we see the different types of men she has been with, from puppeteers to bar men to aspiring politicians. In these men are some excellent actors: Zachary Quinto, Martin Freeman, Andy Samberg, Dave Annable and Anna’s husband Chris Pratt even makes an appearance!

Overall I absolutely love this film. I’ve watched it many times and every time it makes me laugh. Anna is a fantastic actress and this role was made for her. Most importantly though it picks up on the fact that though men can sleep with as many women as they like, there is a stigma attached to women toward how many men they sleep with. Proven when Ally lets slip to one of her guys how many men she has since been with and they look disgusted, but there is a ray of light from Colin who tells Ally that the right guy won’t care. And he is absolutely right. In this day and age it shouldn’t matter what your number is, the right guy for you won’t care one bit whether you’ve been with 0, 20, 50 or 100 guys!

So girls watch this film for plenty of laughs and the sight of a naked Chris Evans, I guarantee you’ll love it!
