The Woman Who Found Love At Simply Oloni’s Mingling Soirée

It’s been a few months after Simply Oloni’s FIRST ever Mingling Soirée and I know exactly what you’re thinking. ‘Did anyone actually hook up?’ Well, I’ll have you know that after receiving plenty of messages from women and men (yes, the men did a lot of courting that night) I caught up with 21-year-old Denise Thompson, a student from London who met her new boyfriend at our mingling soirée.

Denise sent me an email thanking me for creating the event and told me how she started talking to her new fella. She also explained how she felt when she arrived at the soirée.

‘I was very nervous, it was out of my comfort zone but I quickly got past that as everyone was friendly and chatty,’

Denise carried on by saying: ‘It was so unlike anything I had done before and I thought there was a slight stigma attached, like it was a bit desperate,’

Well she came to the social affair with a very open mind, ready to meet new people and she did….she met her new partner.

‘We met at the opportunity to talk to everyone at the end – he just came and spoke to me. The conversation was interesting, I was shy, but he made me feel very relaxed,’

‘We had to go and talk to other people so before he left, he asked for my number.’ (YAY!)

Denise spills the beans on how they made it official: ‘He bought me flowers on one of our dates and later just asked me to be his girl.’

How sweet!

‘It was  a fun, relaxed and well thought out evening – no pressure was placed on anyone and you were quickly made to feel comfortable if you came by yourself – in fact it’s probably better if you do go by yourself as you’re forced to interact more with other people.’
