Should Babies And Toddlers Attend Runway Shows?
North West is probably the most talked about child within the world of Hollywood and now fashion, but not for the greatest reasons.
We are all in the loop with her latest front row tantrums and it makes us question, should little people be allowed to attend runway shows or should they stay at home with their 1 out of 5 nannies?
Designers work hard all year round to create a show which takes us on their vision for the new seasons and year, for most of the fashion industry, runway shows are not only a place to socialise but they are a place of business. If there is a screaming baby in the room it will disrupt a place of business (kind of like having a screaming baby in an office – it won’t work). It’s no wonder why fashion heads are a bit peeved, like Elle’s Fashion Editor Anne Slowey, who made comments such as “couldn’t they leave it backstage”.
However, there are examples of little people who have been very well behaved and know that when you enter a runway show, you must be seen and not heard.
Harper Beckham – Her mum is an ex Spice Girl and one of fashions most highly respected people. She’s been spotted during her mum’s very own show looking very cute but also very mute.
Alia Wang – Alexander Wang’s niece. The little girl with the wardrobe to die for. She has had her foot in the fashion door since she was a baby, so she’s knows the score. Look chic but lets not hear a peep.
So the question still stands,
Should kids be allowed into runway shows? If yes, should there be an age limit? and if no, why the hell not? Tweet us your answers @SimplyOloni
