Throughout the past couple years the 90s have taken over many trends and made a huge impact and brought some comebacks within fashion and beauty.

One major trend that has taken over the A/W 14’ season by storm is brown lips. During the nineties any and almost every film, music video, photograph had a woman adorning this simple and chic shade, which is so neutral it can be seen as a balance of masculinity and femininity. So what’s not to love about it?

Some feel it should stay in the era it came from, whereas others say it’s a colour of sophistication and is overlooked.

As with all lip colour, certain shades are not universal and therefore require imagination and a mix up, in order to make it suit the majority of us. Dark brown shades create a real statement and stand out. Lightly stained lips usually give a flirty feel and with all these varieties of shades, come the varieties of finishes. Whether you’re a matte or satin finish chick, your surely find something for your pout.

Lip pencils can also be used to achieve a very matte and dry (but not chapped dry) look, which is very in. A simple gloss or shimmer can be then placed on top to create a soft and plumped look.
