The Bomber Jacket
We have started a new fashion year and this means new must haves and trending looks. One particular item of clothing that has been on everyone’s lips is the Bomber Jacket.
Often known for being in the sports luxe trend, bomber jackets have not only taken over the runways but they have now taken over the high street. Many women have hung up their motorcycle and varsity jackets for something fresher and downright cool look. Bomber jackets instantly bring that effortless and simple air to any outfit and come in all types of fabrics and colours. From silk to leather to cotton or jersey, there is a bomber jacket to suit any occasion, look and style. Fashion designers such as Marc Jacobs and Tracy Reese have taken the bomber jacket out of this world by using very plush fabrics such as neoprene, silk, mesh and tulle.
Many prints are being experimented with, which gives the bomber jacket a whole new take. Commonly seen as a masculine jacket and shape, it has now become a statement piece for many women to sport and in some ways it has become an essential jacket, simply for it’s cool factor. The bomber jacket was most desired and craved for during the 90s (which seems to be one of the current fashion trends). The bomber jacket has been associated with many iconic styles, there was the Skinheads and Scooterboys during the 70s and then bomber jackets swept across the hip hop fashion scene during the 2000s.
Bomber jackets have such a laid back vibe and come in different colours, patterns and fabrics that they can work with so many outfits. The jacket can seem a little manly and can be overpowering, but to add a feminine appeal opt for some heels.
The bomber jacket is a classic item, which will never die out.
