Ways To Save And Spend

Here at Simply Oloni we have a few ways on how to keep track on what you spend! We’ve made a list that have some great tips on how to save money, especially for university students…

Jot down your long-term money goals

Whether it’s buying that brand new corsa or putting down a deposit for a new house, write it down. Write down your financial goals in detail, that way you can always track your progress.

Save more than your earn

I think this one speaks for itself.

Pay it off!

Make sure stuff like phone bills and rent are ALWAYS paid on time. This saves you from wrapping up a bad credit score, and you don’t want to be homeless with a phone you can’t even call people from, since EE cut off your signal and shizz.

Invest

You don’t have to be stock broker to make your money grow, there are other alternatives, like saving cash in banks that give you a low interest or investing in a friends start up company.

Try not to lose your money

Wallets, purses and banks were created for a reason. Make your money is always secured and safe.

Be careful who you lend money to

They say you should always lend what you can afford to lose. But wouldn’t it be better not to lose anything?

Never buy what you don’t need

This one’s for you ‘impluse buyers’, always resist the urge to buy things you’ve seen for the first time, wait a few days and see if you still want it. If you come back to it and you don’t want it chances are you never really wanted it anyway.

 Compare prices

Always try to find the most cheapest and reasonable deal, before buying checking and searching will definitely leave you in tears when you’ve realised you could have got a similar top you saw in TopShop in NewLook for a much cheaper price.

Limit your take-away sessions

Spending money on take-aways is completely unnecessary, not only that, it drains your bank account. Instead of spendings on take-aways each month, cook and store food. If you don’t know how to cook go out and buy some cook books, Google recipes and ask family members.

Keep track of your money expenses and where it goes

ALWAYS make sure you know where you money is going, this can easily be done by internet banking and jotting down how much you spend in a day/week/month by writing in a journal, not only does it save you money, it also saves you from nasty shocks when you see your bank statements.

Don’t treat your student over-draft like a dirty slave, set cash aside for emergencies and in times of brokeness

Student accounts with a nice sum of an overdraft can be tempting to blow off in like a day or two, but don’t get too happy now, going down to -1000 isn’t fun or a good look, going over your over draft limit is even worse. Overdrafts are your last minutes go to’s! Not  for when you want to stunt in the club with bottles of alcohol that cost over a hunnid for reason.
