Money Saving Beauty Tricks

Buying beauty products can be an endless and expensive thing, it’s the worst feeling when you dive into your makeup bag to find your favourite products dried out, or just unusable. These tips and tricks might just save you a little bit of money, and make those products last that little bit longer.

Have you ever reached out for your eyeliner and its just crumbled before your eyes while trying to apply it? Many eye-liners dry out before they actually expire. Putting it in the freezer for around 10 minutes will help it glide straight on with no flakes or crumbling. It’s a great, cost-free way to save an eyeliner that is still usable.

Applying lipstick with a brush can help save product, usually if you apply straight from the bullet you use way more than needed. Applying with a thin, soft brush can help you apply your lipstick evenly and will make it last much longer.

Dampening an eye shadow brush with water can make your eye shadows last longer too, the damp brush picks up more product, and reduces the powder waste that would usually occur if using a dry brush. Usually when putting eye shadow on, you would ‘tap off’ the excess product that’s not needed. With a damp brush, you can build up colour and waste less.

Use a 10p coin sized amount of shampoo each time you wash your hair, it makes the bottle last longer and still washes your hair plenty. If you are running low on conditioner, add a little water to the bottle and shake, this way you will get the last bit of product out.

Putting the lid on tightly! The reason for many products going dry or becoming unusable is because the lid isn’t on properly, making sure everything is air-tight is the best way of insuring that your mascara for example, doesn’t get dry. It’s also the best way to avoid nasty bacteria getting in.

Dry shampoo has become expensive in some cases, its mostly made out of baby powder. Pick up some cheap baby powder from your local supermarket, or drugstore. It does the same job, just ensure to rub in the baby powder evenly. To make your own you can even add scents such as aromatherapy oils, it can add a nice scent just be light handed on the oil – as it can defeat the purpose of the baby powder!
