5 Positive Habits That Will Help You Every Day

Gratitude

Gratitude is the act of showing appreciation for and the return of kind acts.

Sometimes we sit there and complain about the things we don’t have or the things we wish we have; when really we should be thinking and thankful for things and people we already have. Like attracts like, so when we complain about the things that you don’t have, you emit a signal of ‘lack’. This therefore produces lack of, and you continue spiral down, however if you choose focus on the things you do have, the universe will continue give you more positive things in life.

Give to others

This is relatively simple. Help others without expectation, yes you can focus on yourself but at the same time remember to help other people who may be struggling emotionally, physically or financially. You can simply do this by helping someone with heavy shopping bags, asking how someone’s day has gone or helping a fellow colleague. This not only makes you feel better, but also the other person you’ve helped.

Perspective

The way you think has an impact on things you do and the things you say. We can be our own best friend or our worst enemy, when we get something wrong or we fail a task we can be rather hard on ourselves, and this streams a list of negative thoughts in our mind;   “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t – you’re right” – Henry Ford.

When negative thoughts flow into your into your mind, try to think positive things to focus on, and you if struggle to find something positive to focus on, you can always make a list of positive things. You can put anything down as long as it is positive, from achievements/goals to your baby siblings!

If you really struggle to think of positive things, and take things personal, you can write a dialogue of the ‘anxious’ voice and the ‘responsive’ voice. So for example, anxious voice: “ I can’t believe my colleague screamed like a mad woman  at me for no reason today” and responsive voice: “ My colleague probably has a lot on her plate at work, she seems super stressed. I wonder what I could do to help her out”.

Positive surroundings

Take a look around your surroundings and the people you surround yourself with; do they make you smile and jump for joy or do they cause misery, pain and frustration? They say you become most like the people you surround yourself with.  If they do cause you to harbour negative feelings and suck the energy out you then maybe you need change the people you hang out with. When you don’t have supportive and positive people around you, it’s hard to be and stay positive. The more you emit positive feelings, you’ll become immune to nay-sayers and drama queens and negative people and if you have cut off a person that is totally okay. The more positivity you emit, the more you’ll have an impact on others positively and it will also show in your professional and personal life.

Take action

Break out of your comfort zone!  I’m not saying go completely wild, but live a little. If you want to better your skills, get out there and take a class in the areas you would to get better in.

Watch your thoughts; they become words.

Watch your words; they become actions.

Watch your actions; they become habits.

Watch your habits; they become character.

Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.
